PARENTING AND FAMILY RESOURCES

As a parent or guardian, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. A child learns more in the first 3 years of life than at any other time, and they learn almost entirely from what their caregiver models. Every moment of every day is a learning opportunity for both of you; can we help support your journey? Our approach to supporting parents is an adult-first model. Your ability to self-regulate, reason, and respond to conflict sets your child on a path to lifelong success. The Coalition uses the Conscious Discipline curriculum to support families, parents, and caregivers on this journey to wellness. For more information on our Conscious Discipline work, click here.

Our early care and development center teachers in Pointe Coupée are using the Frog Street™ curriculum for infants, toddlers, and pre-k children. This is a research-based curriculum approved by the LA Department of Education. “Parents as Partners” is a component of the weekly lesson plan learning and development lesson plans. Also, a key component of your young child’s learning and development with Frog Street™ is the Conscious Discipline® piece.  Through Conscious Discipline® your young children are learning invaluable life skills such as self-regulation and mindful social-emotional skills that will prepare them for school and life.

Developmental Milestones

Children develop milestones in consecutive order, meaning that a child will need to develop some skills before he or she can develop new skills.  Each milestone that a child acquires, builds on the last milestone developed.
